AP Curfew Extended From July 1, Relaxation Time Increased In 8 Districts

The Andhra Pradesh Government, on the 28th of June, announced an extension to the ongoing curfew in the State. 

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, held a review meeting over the current situation of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) The meeting was held at the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Camp Office in Tadepalli, A.P.

The YSRCP Minister Alla Nani, Health Department officials and other COVID-19 Task Force officials attended the meeting. Considering the current situation, the Chief Minister said, they would extend the imposed curfew in the State. However, the relaxation timing has been extended in 8 districts, where the number of COVID-19 cases are low compared to other districts.

The decision was taken to contain the spread of the Novel Coronavirus. The extended curfew in Andhra Pradesh would be in effect from the 1st of July, till the 7th of July. However, in 8 districts, Guntur, Anantapur, Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Kurnool, Srikakulam, Kadapa and Vizianagaram, the relaxation time has been increased by 3 hours. The new relaxation time in the aforementioned districts would be from 6:00 A.M., to 9:00 P.M. Whereas, the curfew would begin from 9:00 P.M., to 6:00 A.M.

Meanwhile, in West Godavari, East Godavari, Krishna, Chittoor and Prakasam districts, the relaxation time is the same, from 6:00 A.M., to 6:00 P.M. The decision to ease the relaxation time would be taken as per the Wuhan virus condition, after the 7th of July. As of now, in these 5 districts, the COVID-19 positivity rate is more than 5 %.

Besides this, the State Government also discussed the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive.

Meanwhile, with 4,250 new Wuhan virus cases, the State has 18,79.872 positive cases and 12,598 deaths.
