In a shocking incident, a tomato farmer was murdered in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district.
On the 13th of July, Thursday, the police said, they found the dead body of Narem Rajasekhar Reddy (62) in Bodimalladinne village of Madanapalle Mandal. As per the initial report, the police suspected that Rajasekhar was strangled to death and death was said to have occurred on the night of the 11th of July.
Furthermore, the victim’s wife in her statement to the police mentioned that before her husband’s departure, a few unidentified men came to the farm, pretending to buy tomatoes, to which she informed that her husband went to the village.
Although the motive behind the murder is yet to be known, the police suspected the selling of tomatoes and purpose of robbery could be the reason behind the murder. Notably, the farmer earned a huge amount of Rs. 30 lakhs from selling tomatoes in the State’s agriculture market.
Mr. Keshappa, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Annamayya District, said four teams were constituted to solve the case. In addition, the police also deployed a sniffer dog as part of the investigation. The dog went up to the house of the victim from the scene of the crime to find evidence so that the police could nab the accused.
Mr. Gangadhar Rao, the Superintendent of Police (SP) also visited the spot and spoke to the victim’s family members, assuring them to arrest the accused soon.
The farmer is survived by his wife and two daughters. Both the daughters are married and live in Bengaluru.
