AP Government Begins New SEC Appointment, Sends Three Names To Governor

The Andhra Pradesh Government is all set to appoint a new State Election Commissioner.  The begining to appoint the new SEC was in the wake of the term end of the outgoing SEC N. Ramesh Kumar.

Mr. Ramesh Kumar’s term is scheduled to end on the 31st of March, hence the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government sent three selected names for the next SEC post.

The three selected names are former Chief Secretary of A.P., Nilam Sawhney, Premachandra Reddy, and Mr. Samuel.  Of these, the name of Nilam Sawhney seems to be almost finalized, but an official announcement is awaited. The final decision would be taken by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh Biswabhusan Harichahdan.

Currently, Nilam Sawhney who is working as the Chief Advisor to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan.

The Governor appoints the SEC on the basis of seniority and competence.  It also seems to take into account the interest of the Government. The Government would announce the new SEC by the 31st of March.
