AP Government Issues New Set Of Relaxations During Lockdown

The Andhra Pradesh Government, on the 29th of April, issued a new set of guidelines for the nation wide lockdown in the State.

A day after the video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., consulted the officials of the State Government and announced the relaxation.  

The relaxations came a week before the nation wide lockdown is scheduled to end.  The nation wide lockdown, which was implemented as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of the Novel Coronavirus is proposed to end on the 3rd of May.

Details of lockdown exemptions as per new guidelines in AP:

  • Financial sectors could work following the social distancing norms with a limited staff.
  • Exemption for construction works, power lines and telecom cables in villages of A.P.
  • Permission for Agriculture and Horticulture functioning
  • Agriculture markets, plantation, harvesting, processing and packing could start.
  • Migrant workers are permitted to work in their own areas within the state.
  • Permission to work if someone is COVID-19 infection free.
  • Permission for shops and markets located in complexes, rural areas to function.
  • Exemption allowed to electricians, plumbers and bookstores.

These areas could function amid lockdown from the 30th of April in the State.  However, relaxation does not apply to the areas, which has been declared as the red zones for the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh reported a total of 1,332 cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 with 31 fatalities till the 29th of April.
