The Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC,) 3rd of March, Thursday, reviewed the three capital cancellation matters, and announced its verdict in the matter.

The A.P., High Court bench led by Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra directed the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) to develop Amaravati as the Andhra Pradesh State Capital. It further asked the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government to implement the master plan of development under the Capital Rural Development Authority Act (CRDA) Act.

The HC bench in its judgment emphasized that the YSRCP Assembly does not have the power to make any laws on the capital, directing it to follow the CRDA law. The court ordered that the developed plots be handed over to the farmers within three months. In a major blow to the YSRCP Government, the High Court asked the YSRCP Government to ensure that the directions are being implemented and should be completed within 6 months as per the agreement and ordered to submit a periodic report on development works.

The HC asked the Government to make sure that the lands given by the Amaravati farmers are being used only for the State Capital needs and no office should be moved from Amravati. It has been ordered to pay Rs.50,000 for the expenses of the petitioners, who filed against the implementation of the three State Capitals.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders and Amaravati farmers who were protesting against the YSRCP Government welcomed the HC judgment.

It is to be noted, in 2019 December, the YSRCP Government proposed three capitals, Visakhapatnam, Kurnool and Amaravati for the Telugu State.
