Mr. Gudivada Amarnath, the Information Technology (IT) Minister of Andhra Pradesh, laid the foundation stone for the development and infrastructure expansion of Kakinada Anchorage Port.

On the 25th of November, Friday, Mr. Gudivada Amarnath toured Kakinada and laid the foundation stone for the port, with a sanctioned amount of Rs.91 crores.  The port, approved by the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) would be constructed under the Sagaramala program, which would help to increase the annual capacity of cargo exports to 3 million tonnes.

As a part of this, two mechanical cargo handling wharves, construction of five additional loading points in the new port area, development of port annexes, internal roads, repairs of commercial canal grooves, revetments, and commercial and approach canal dredging would be undertaken. 

During the event of laying the foundation stone, the YSRCP ministers like Mr. Raja, Mr. Venugopalakrishna, the Kakinada Member of Parliament (MP) Ms. Geetha, the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) Mr. Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy, Mr. Kurasala Kannababu and other YSRCP leaders would participate in this programme.

Meanwhile, the construction work would be done by Hyderabad based Vishwasamudra Holdings, which has signed an agreement with the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP Government.

The construction work of the expansion project of Kakinada Anchorage Port would be completed in the next year.
