The Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh has improved and bagged a third position in the implementation of the ‘Amrit Sarovar’ program undertaken by the Central Government.
Notably, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Union Government launched the Amrit Sarovar program, on the 24th of April 2022, with the target of developing 75 ponds, in every district of the nation.
Under the leadership of Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government aimed to build and develop 2,890 ponds under the auspices of all departments in the State. Furthermore, work on 1,809 ponds already started and is to be completed by August next year.
It has been decided to build these ponds to store ten thousand cubic meters of water in an area of at least one acre.
Highlighting the progress, Ms. Shanti Priya Pandey, the Special Commissioner of the Panchayat Raj-Rural Development Department, said that the construction of 399 ponds will be completed by the 15th of August, 2022. In addition, Andhra Pradesh state completed 181 ponds, by the 20th of July, Wednesday, and is in the third position after Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
In the first days of the implementation of this program, the state was ranked 13th in the country, but recently it has risen to the third position.
Meanwhile, on the 15th of August 2022, the 75th Independence Day, the YSRCP Government and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would unveil National Flags, at all the completed ponds, across the State.
