The Andhra Pradesh Government decided to begin school from the 16th of August in the State.

On the 7th of July, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, reviewed the current Wuhan virus situation and took the decision. According to the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government, the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases are under control with the efforts of the State Medical Department and the people of A.P.

Following the controlled situation, the YSRCP President decided to reopen schools and conduct offline classes from the 16th of August. The State Education Department would issue a notification regarding the same, marking the beginning of the new academic year (2021-2022) which was delayed.

It is to be noted, the new academic year is going to start from 12th of July, through online mode. However, from the 16th of August, students would attend schools. Schools in Andhra Pradesh are shut for offline classes since 2020 March, when the first nationwide lockdown was imposed. Since then in order to ensure the safety of the students, schools and educational institutions were shut and were conducting online classes.

As decided by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the online classes would continue till the 14th of August and after the 15th August (Independence Day) celebration, school would begin classes from the 16th of August.

In regard to this, the YSRCP Government asked concerned officials to make all the necessary arrangements, following the COVID-19 protocol.

The confirmation regarding the school reopening in the State was given by Adimulapu Suresh, the Education Minister of A.P., during a press meet. After the review meeting with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Adimulapu Suresh addressed the press and briefed about the decision taken during the meeting.

Meanwhile, till date, Andhra Pradesh has 33,230 active cases of the deadly Wuhan virus.
