The Indian National Congress (INC) leader A. Revanth Reddy took charge of the office as the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President.

On the 7th of July, Revanth Reddy took the oath of office at Gandhi Bhavan. The Member of Parliament of Malkajgiri took oath after addressing a huge rally from Peddamma temple in Jubilee Hills to Gandhi Bhavan in Nampally. Before taking the oath, Revanth offered prayers at Peddamma temple and sought blessings. Later, he led the rally to Yousufain Dargah and paid his respects. The outgoing TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy handed over the charge amidst chanting of mantras.

The INC leaders in Telangana like Bhatti Vikramarka, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Telangana in charge Manickam Tagore and other leaders like Geeta Reddy, Nagam Janardhan Reddy among others attended the swearing in ceremony. Due to the ongoing Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the swearing in ceremony was a low key affair, with the limited number of leaders present at Gandhi Bhavan.

After taking the oath as the TPCC President, Mr. Revanth Reddy is scheduled to address the Telangana INC cadre and discuss the future plans.

Meanwhile, the appointment of 53 year old A. Revanth Reddy as the TPCC President might give a new boost to the INC in Telangana.

Besides the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the INC is also an pposition of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government. All the three parties are putting efforts to win the upcoming Huzurabad Assembly seat, which fell vacant after the resignation of the former Telangana Health Minister and TRS leader Eatala Rajendra.

With this, the Huzurabad by election would be the first challenge of A. Revanth Reddy, who took over as the TPCC President today, Wednesday (7th of July.)
