On the 22nd of May, a team led by the AYUSH Commissioner Ramulu Naik started studying Ayurvedic expert Anandiah’s Ayurvedic medicine for the Wuhan virus patients.

Prepared by a local Ayurveda practitioner Bonigi Anandiah, the Ayurvedic medicine is said to be a relief to people who tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus.  While explaining the preparation of the medicine, the Ayurvedic expert said the medicine is being prepared in three categories.  One for preventing the Wuhan virus, another for the infected people with mild symptoms, and the third one is for infected persons who are on oxygen support.  The medicine gives a permanent solution and chances for a speedy recovery from the infection.

The team of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) doctors visited Krishnapatnam village in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh and interacted with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients who took the Ayurvedic medicines.

After a detailed survey and study, the AYUSH doctors said the medicine was not harmful to the COVID-19 patients.  However, Dr. Ramulu Naik said, it would be safe if the COVID-19 patients used the Ayurvedic medicine 10 days after being diagnosed with the virus.

Dr. Ramulu Naik said, “I will submit the report to the State Government once Anandaiah shows the process of making medicine.”

The team visited after Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, asked the ICMR to get involved and study the authenticity of the Ayurvedic medicine.  In regard to this, the Government also halted the distribution process until the approval of the ICMR would come.

A detailed report of Anandiah’s Ayurvedic medicine is yet to come.
