Once again, India’s Wuhan virus single day spike cases showed a dip with 2,57,299 new cases. This is the 6th consecutive day, the Country reported less than 3,00,000 new cases in a day. 

While the single day Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases decreased, deaths due to the deadly infection showed no positive results and remained constant with more than 4,000 cases. Of the total deceased, 420 doctors including 100 in Delhi have lost their lives due to the Wuhan virus in the second wave of the infection. The figure of the deceased doctors in the second wave of the Wuhan virus was confirmed by the Indian Medical Association.

According to the Union Health Department, in the past 24 hours, India reported 2,57,299 new cases, 4,196 deaths and 3,57,630 recovered/discharged cases. The updated figure was announced at 8:00 A.M., on the 22nd of May and is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.) Besides this, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) confirmed 2,066,285 samples being tested for the Wuhan virus, taking the total to 32,64,84,155 till date.

With the aforementioned data, the Nation has 26,289,290 positive cases, of which 23,070,365 people recovered/discharged, 29,23,400 are active cases and 2,95,525 are deceased cases.

In addition, Karnataka has left behind Maharashtra in terms of the active cases. As of now, Maharashtra has 3.67 lakh active cases of the Novel Coronavirus infection, but Karnataka has 5.14 lakh active cases. Other states and union territories (UTs) which have the highest number of COVID-19 cases are: Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and West Bengal. These states/UTs have more than 10,00,000 active cases of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, in terms of rising Black Fungus cases in India, Sadnanda Gowda, the Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers said, “A total of 23,680 additional vials of Amphotericin-B (drug used to treat patient with Black Fungus) have been allocated to all States/UTs today (the 22nd of May.) The allocation has been made based on the total number of patients which is approximately 8,848 across the country.”

Highlighting the COVID-19 vaccination figure, so far 19,33,72,819 doses of COVID-19 vaccination have been administered to people across India. Of the total, 14,58,895 doses were given in the past 24 hours.

India has 87.76 % recovery rate and 1.10 % fatality rate.
