Suresh Prabhu, the former Union Minister and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) on the 27th of December, met Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.)
Suresh Prabhu visited Vijayawada and had lunch with Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the camp office in Tadepalli, A.P.
Mr. Prabhu during his visit addressed the people of Vijayawada and asked them not to believe the opposition parties which are misleading people regarding the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, [CAA] 2019. He said, “Nobody would lose their citizenship because of the Centre’s decisions.”
Suresh Prabhu attended an awareness programme organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the CAA and National Registration of Citizens (NRC) in Vijayawada.
Explaining the Centre’s stand on the Citizenship Act, Mr. Prabhu said there was a difference between infiltrators/illegal migrants and refugees. He said, “So, those who want to return to India seeking refuge after facing persecution in those countries will be given citizenship. It doesn’t strip of anybody’s citizenship(sic. )”
Besides attending the awareness programme, Mr. Prabhu discussed several political, economic and welfare schemes in Andhra Pradesh (A.P.)
However, Suresh Prabhu said the meeting was just a courtesy call with Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and has no hidden agenda related to NRC or the CAA.
