Amaravathi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has accused the previous YSRCP government of rampant exploitation of the state’s natural resources. In a statement on Monday, Naidu claimed that lands, mines, and red sanders were illegally occupied, resulting in severe financial losses. Releasing a white paper at the State Secretariat, he detailed that 1.75 lakh acres of land worth Rs 35,000 crore were illegally occupied during the YSRCP rule.

Naidu emphasized the misuse of Rs 653 crore for issuing fresh passbooks after a flawed land resurvey and announced its withdrawal. He also highlighted that quarries were seized illegally, jeopardizing owners and undermining the vigilance and forest departments.

To combat these issues, Naidu urged citizens, especially victims of land grabbing, to report such activities via a newly established toll-free number. He promised stringent action against those involved, ensuring the return of lands to their rightful owners.

Naidu also revealed plans to introduce the AP Land Grabbing Act, modeled after Gujarat’s legislation, to hold illegal occupiers accountable. Addressing the sand mafia, he lamented a Rs 9,750 crore loss in mineral revenue.

Naidu concluded by vowing to restore the state’s financial integrity and enforce severe penalties for future violations.
