Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) and the National President of the Telugu Desam Party participated in Amaravati Jana Bheri meeting.

Held on the 17th of December, the Amaravati Jana Bheri meeting is organised on the completion of a year of Amaravati protest.

Today, the Amaravati movement completed one year of agitation against the three capitals of Andhra Pradesh.

On the same day last year (the 17th of December 2019,) the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) proposed to have three capitals for Andhra Pradesh.

However, the residents of Amaravati, including farmers who gave a piece of their lands to build Amaravati as the State Capital, protested.

Farmers, women and locals are fighting against the State Government’s decision of not keeping Amaravati as the only Capital of Andhra Pradesh.

People are protesting, holding dharnas, taking out rallies and even conducting silent protests following the guidelines of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

Even the infected did not let the protesting spirit of these farmers and people fade, resulting in one year completion of the protest.

The protests have been going on in villages of Tulluru, Velagapudi, Rayapudi, Thallapale and Bethapudi.

During the meeting, Mr. Naidu questioned the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government about their role in the past 15 months.

After being in power in 2019 August, the YSRCP has always been criticised by the opposition TDP and the JanaSena Party.

The criticism of Mr. Naidu was a response to the allegations of the YSRCP. The ruling Government alleged the TDP of insider trading in the capital City Amaravati.

Mr. Naidu who is against the three capitals of Andhra Pradesh appreciated farmers, ladies and residents of Amaravati who not only protested against the YSRCP Government, but also continued till a year.

The protest is still continuing and would go on until the Y.S. Jagan Mohah Reddy led YSRCP Government revokes the proposed three capitals bill.

Mr. Naidu said the Amravati movement is going on in a way that would be remembered in history.

On this occasion, Chandrababu Naidu found fault with the ruling Government for the way they are dealing with Amaravati agitation and challenged for a referendum on the subject of three capitals. He challenged that if the people voted for the three capitals, he would retire from politics permanently.
