Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) is going to visit Amaravati soon.
On the 28th of November, Naidu would travel to Amaravati and visit the villages there to inspect construction works and the current condition of the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu’s decision to visit Amaravati came after the Government of India (GoI) announced the new map of India would include Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Previously, the Home Ministry of India released a new map of India after Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated into two union territories. As the capital of Andhra Pradesh was not finalised, the GoI did not include Amaravati in India’s map.
After the Members of Parliament (MPs) of the TDP raised the issue during the Winter Session of the Parliament, the Government rectified the mistake by releasing a new map.
This would be Chandrababu Naidu’s first visit to Amaravati after the 2019 Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh.
When Naidu was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, he used to visit Amaravati frequently to supervise the development in the City.
However, after the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) came to power, they stopped all the construction works in Amaravati and have been considering another city be made the capital of AP.
Chandrababu Naidu would visit Amaravati with TDP leaders and is expected to address the farmers and people of Amaravati’s villages.
Naidu’s tour to Amaravati is likely to hold political importance in relation to the ongoing issue regarding Andhra Pradesh’s capital.
While the citizens of Andhra Pradesh want Amaravati as the State capital, the YSRCP is sticking to its decision of making another city the capital of AP and even announced their priority is not Amaravati.
