Amaravathi: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday praised the selection of senior leader Ayyannapatrudu as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, highlighting its significance in restoring ethical values to the legislature.

During his maiden address to the House following the unanimous election of the Speaker, Naidu criticized the previous government for degrading the Assembly into a platform for personal attacks and baseless allegations. “I have entered this highly respectable House with all the blessings of the people,” Naidu stated.

Reflecting on past derisive comments made against the then Opposition, Naidu noted the transformation in the Assembly, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) securing 164 seats, in stark contrast to the YSRCP’s 11 seats. He also commended Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan for his strategic victories.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Assembly should focus on discussing and resolving public issues rather than indulging in arrogance. He congratulated Ayyannapatrudu, noting his extensive experience as a seven-time MLA and former minister, lauding his commitment to ethical values and service to the TDP.

Naidu called on all MLAs to uphold their sacred responsibility to the public and ensure that their discussions on the floor of the House reflect the State’s progress and development goals, including building the capital, interlinking rivers, and completing the Polavaram project.
