Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) launched an American Corner at Andhra University (AU.)
On the 23rd of September, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the American Corner virtually from the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) office in Amravati. During the occasion, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “This was just the beginning and we hope that the U.S.A. will also be setting up an American Consulate in Visakhapatnam in the future.”
The launch of the American Corner in AU was a collaboration between the American Consulate and the AU. With the functioning of this American Corner, there would be education to students of Andhra University about U.S., universities, educational advice to study abroad, English language classes, women empowerment and others. The establishment of the American Corner at AU would also build a bridge between the United States of America and Andhra Pradesh, opening multiple opportunities for students of the Telugu State. With this set up, Andhra University also took a step to become a world class university, providing good education to its students.
With the inauguration of the American Corner, Andhra University would also conduct guest lectures, inviting eminent speakers and people, enhancing their education system. With this, the AU would also celebrate American declared holidays, here in Andhra Pradesh.
In today’s launch event, the U.S. Consul General of Hyderabad Mr. Joel Reifman, the Indian U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Ms. Veena Reddy, the AU Vice-Chancellor Mr. P.V.G.D. Prasad Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh Minister for Industries, Commerce, and Information Technology, Mr. M. Goutham Reddyand other officials were present.
With this, AU became the third Institution to have an American Corner in India. The first two centres are functional in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
