On the 18th of August, the Guntur District Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Vishal Gunni appreciated police station head constable Mohammed Rafi for his bravery. The head constable was the one who caught the accused in the Ramya Murder incident of Guntur.
On the 18th of August, after a long chase, Mr. Rafi caught the accused. Explaining the chase, Mohammed Rafi said, “I rushed to the spot on my two wheeler and chased him on my bike. At 5:30 P.M., on the way to Pamidipadu village, I overtook him and tried to catch hold of him. The accused abandoned the bike on the road and ran into a stream adjacent to the road. Though I followed him, he escaped into agriculture fields. I lost my footwear in the water, but I kept running after him. After a while, the accused whipped out a knife and tried to threaten me. But I continued to chase him. At the same time, I alerted both Narasaraopet urban and rural police and continued to inform them of my location.” He further added, “Though the path was covered with mud and thorns, I tried my level best not to let him out of my sight. I should not miss him till the police team reached the place. It was the only thought that kept me going.”
Later, around 6:20 P.M., Narasaraopet Rural and Urban Police reached the spot and apprehended him.
Sasi Krishna is the main accused in the recently held murder of Nallapu Ramya. On the 15th of August, a 20 year old B.Tech student Nallapu Ramya was stabbed to death. She was murdered by a native of Mutluru Village identified as Kunchala Sasi Krishna, 22 years old. At the spot of arrest, Sasi Krishna even tried to commit suicide and slit his throat and wrists, following which he was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Guntur Rural District SP Vishal Gunni lauded the work ethic of Constable Mohammed Rafi and applauded him for his bravery. Later, the Police Department also presented a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and an appreciation certificate to Mohammed Rafi.
The reason behind the brutal murder is suspected to be love interest and revenge. According to the police investigation, the duo (Sasi Krishna and Ramya) met on the social media platform, Instagram and soon became close friends. However, after six months of being together, Sasi Krishna suspected Ramya to be cheating on him and had a fight on the morning of the 15th of August. After a huge fight, he slit her throat and killed her.
The incident soon became a huge matter in Andhra Pradesh, demanding justice for Nallapu Ramya. The Police department also drew a lot of criticism after the accused was out of police custody, roaming about.
However, the police nabbed the culprit, Sasi Krishna and charged him under several relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.) The trial of the case is yet to begin.
