On the 16th of October, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy to moderate rainfall in the two Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The IMD issued a rainfall alert for the two Telugu states, urging the state governments and people to be cautious. According to the weather departments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) due to the formation of a low pressure area over the east central and south east Arabian Sea, near Lakshadweep Archipelago, heavy rainfall is predicted in the southern region.
Besides an alert to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the IMD also issued an orange alert of rain to Kerala and Odisha.
The IMD released a statement which read, “The fishermen in Andhra Pradesh are not advised to go to the sea due to the predicted heavy rains in the North Coastal area.”
In Telangana also, a similar prediction was released urging people not to venture out without any emergency reasons.
The rainfall is expected to continue for the next two days, the 16th and the 17th of October, in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Meanwhile, due to the cyclonic pressure over the east central and south east Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, rainfall is predicted on different days across India. While rainfall is expected to continue in the southern region till the 17th of October, in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttarakhand and Bihar are expected on the 18th and the 19th of October.
