The Andhra Pradesh Police intensified rescue operation and issued a high alert In Krishna district amid Cyclone Asani. Starting from the Bay of Bengal, the cyclonic storm weakened and would bring heavy to moderate rainfall in major isolated coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh.
In regard to this, the Krishna District Collector Mr. Ranjit Basha and District Superintendent of Police Mr. Siddharth Kaushal asked the officials to be on high alert, as the cyclone has hit the coastal region on the morning of the 11th of May, Wednesday, bringing rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rains with wind speed of 60 to 70 km is expected in coastal districts from Visakhapatnam to Guntur on Wednesday.
Mr. Ranjit Basha and SP Mr. Siddharth Kaushal conducted a meeting with officials in Machilipatnam and reviewed the preparedness to face the cyclone. The concerned authority asked the officials of the Krishna district including the revenue officials to be on alert. They also asked Road and Building, Agriculture, Fisheries, Disaster Management and other departments to be on high alert.
Furthermore, control rooms and emergency rooms were setup for detailed communication to ensure communication between various government departments amid the cyclone.
Meanwhile, people of Andhra Pradesh, especially in isolated and coastal regions were advised not to venture out and take caution due to the cyclone Asani.
