K.T. Rama Rao (KTR,) the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) on the 25th of February, expressed his disappointment with the Government of India (GoI.)

The disappointment came after the Railway Ministry of India released a proposal about 10 new high speed rail corridors across India, without including Hyderabad in the list.

KTR said, “Dear Piyush Goyal Ji, I am not completely sure if the proposal of 10 new high speed rail corridors is accurately reported. If it’s true, I am completely stumped with the logic (lack thereof) in leaving out the 5th largest Indian metro Hyderabad!! Request you to kindly clarify.”

The Central Government, on the 25th of February, released the list of the 10 new high speed rail corridors to be built across the Country. The 10 railways routes included in the list were Delhi to Mumbai, Delhi to Kolkata, Delhi to Varanasi, Delhi to Bhopal, Delhi to Amritsar, Delhi to Ahmedabad, Nagpur to Mumbai, Patna to Kolkata, Chennai to Bangalore and Chennai to Mysuru.

KTR, angry over the decision of the Central Government of not including Hyderabad in the proposal, took to Twitter and asked Piyush Goyal, the Railway Minister of India, for clarification regarding the same.

However, the Railway Ministry did not respond to the tweet of KTR yet.

B. Vinod Kumar, the Member of Parliament (MP) of the Karimnagar constituency, also addressed the media and spoke about the several projects undertaken by the Telangana Government. The State Government asked the GoI to develop a high speed railway corridor between Hyderabad and Amaravati, via Chennai. The corridor will be in the interests of the citizens and will provide fast railway connectivity between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Kumar further said, the Telangana Government also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convert the Secunderabad Railway Station into the departure point of the high speed trains. The trains which will be connecting railway routes to the southern parts of India will be a part of the ‘Southern Splendour’ project.
