Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) on the 27th of September, conducted a press meet and criticised the Andhra Pradesh (AP) Government.

Naidu criticised the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government over Power Purchase Agreement (PPAs.)

During the press meet, Mr. Naidu alleged the YSRCP of misusing money by reverse tendering and cancelling PPAs.  He also spoke about the letter written by Energy Minister to the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP Government regarding the cancellation of PPAs.

He further supported his argument by mentioning the judgement of the AP High Court regarding the PPAs.

Mr. Naidu said in 2014, during the TDP’s rule, the State had enough power and supplied quality power to consumers, which was purchased at Rs. 4.84 per unit.  He said due to technology, the price of wind power reduced with time. He criticised the YSRCP Government for buying power at Rs. 6 per unit, which is available at Rs. 4 per unit.

Naidu justified his statement with an example and said phones, which were sold at Rs. 20,000 earlier, are now available at Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 15,000 because of technological changes.

He said similarly wind power cost also came down and solar power, which was sold at Rs 16 per unit, can now be bought at Rs. 4 per unit.

Mr. Naidu further dismissed the allegations of Jagan Mohan Reddy against the TDP and said they are false and an attempt to tarnish the reputation of the TDP.

Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged the TDP of corruption over the purchase of PPAs.

TDP leaders, activists and workers were also present during the press conference conducted at the TDP office in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
