Nandamuri Balakrishna, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA,) decided to sit on Dharna, in the Hindupur district, Andhra Pradesh.
The protest is said to be against the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government over district headquarters. Notably, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, announced to keep Puttaparthi as the district headquarters for the proposed Hindupur district. The decision has upset the actor-turned-politician, who announced a rally to protest on the 4th of February, Friday.
On Friday, Mr. Nandamuri Balakrishna, also known as Balayya Babu, would sit on Dharna, demanding Hindupur headquarters in the district instead of Puttaparthi.
The citizens of Hindupur supported the protest, questioning the rationale of making Puttaparthi the headquarter town. They are pointing out that Hindupur is the headquarter of the Lok Sabha constituency and it should naturally be the district headquarters too.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nandamuri Balakrishna is stern with his decision to protest until the YSRCP Government changes its decision.
