The Nellore Rural Police Station registered a case against Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)
Sarala, the Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) of Venkatachalam, Nellore, complained against Kotamreddy and his associate Srikanth Reddy.
Sarala said Kotamreddy and Srikanth Reddy allegedly harassed her for not issuing a permit for a project, requested by Srikanth Reddy.
The Venkatachalam MPDO said both Kotam and Srikanth entered her house in an intoxicated state and threatened her, saying they will cut the water and cable connection at her residence.
Sarla immediately rushed to the Nellore Police Station at midnight, after the incident took place. However, there was no one available to file a case against Kotamreddy at the time. Later, she staged a protest outside the police station until the Circle Inspector of Nellore came to the station and registered the case.
Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) reacted to the incident and criticised the YSRCP Government for its members’ behaviour with the zonal officer.
The YSRCP did not comment about the incident yet.
