On the 4th of October, the Government of India (GoI) announced a high alert in places along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB.)

The high alert was issued after intelligence agencies reported terrorist movement in places like Machhil and Keran across the LoC.

The intelligence report also indicated the presence of terrorists belonging to the Jaish e Mohammed (JeM) at a launchpad site in Jura (Pakistan side.)

According to India Today, several groups of JeM terrorists were spotted at launchpads across the border, including the Mohra, Lanjot and Dadot launchpads near the LoC and Tejian.

The intelligence report also revealed the presence of approximately 50 JeM terrorists and 30 Lashkar e Taiba (LeT) terrorists in Salhun and Matrian, PoK.

Apart from this, 90 more terrorists belonging to the LeT and Al-Badr are planning to infiltrate India through the Keran sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, no attacks or breach by militants at the LoC were reported yet.  The officials said, “There were no reports of any violations or march towards LoC. Troops are alert and fully prepared for such an eventuality.”

The sources say the JeM and the LeT terrorists are expected to target members of the Jewish community in India around Yom Kippur on the 8th and the 9th of October.

Recently, an intelligence report also said the JeM is planning to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Ajit Doval in the wake of Article 370 being scrapped in Jammu and Kashmir.

Delhi and major parts of several Indian States, Air Force bases, the LoC, Pathankot and Punjab are on high alert.
