Guntur: Passengers faced severe problems with the limited number of buses available on Sunday. The Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) gave around 3500 buses to the YSRCP’s ‘Siddham’ meeting scheduled at Medarametla in Bapatla parliament limits.
The YSRCP hired these buses to shift their party followers and activists to the public meeting. Many Express, PalleVelugu and super luxury buses were diverted to the meeting and people faced severe problems waiting long at bus stands.
Passengers at Guntur, Nellore, Chirala and other bus stands faced problems waiting for almost hours throughout the day.
“Political parties can take the buses. APSRTC should consider the problems faced by the passengers and operate a minimum number of services,” said K Neeraja, a passenger waiting at the Ongole bus stand.
We are forced to wait for a long time, she added.
Meanwhile, private bus operators and taxi operators looted the public with high fares in the absence of sufficient number of bus services.
