Pawan, Naidu meets CEC: requests action against misuse of form 7

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam (TDP) and Janasena requested Election Commission of India (ECI) to prohibit volunteers and ward secretariat staff from the election duties. They demanded the commission to utilize the services of teachers, bank staff and other staff.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu along with Jana Sena Chief and actor turned politician Pawan Kalyan met Chief Election Commission (CEC) Rajeev Kumar at Novotel Hotel in the city on Tuesday and submitted a representation on various issues manly related to the alleged false practices of YSRCP.

Naidu and Pawan addressed a combined press meet after the meeting and said that ECI is very serious in conducting elections at the state and direct interaction of CEC with the representatives of political parties highlights the situation.

Naidu said that they have submitted evidence of misuse of form 7 at various assembly constituencies. “Altogether 1.2 lakh form-7 applications were submitted at Chandragiri and around 30,000 votes were deleted. Ruling party is manipulating the voter lists. Volunteers and ward secretariat system is unconstitutional and we raised an objection in using them for election duties,” Naidu said.

Naidu also opposed appointment of Women police working at village secretariats as booth level officers(BLOs). “Teachers and officer cadre officials were earlier posted as BLOs. But YSRCP changed the system and placed women police at that position. ECI should take strict action,” Naidu urged CEC.

Pawan Kalyan said that the law and order situation at the state is pathetic and police were blatantly supporting the ruling party and obstructing the campaigns of opposition parties.
