Petition Filed Against SEC In AP HC, Seeks MPTC/ZPTC Elections Soon

On the 19th of March, the Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC,) reviewed a petition for the conduct of the MPTC/ZPTC elections. 

Mettu Ramareddy, a resident of Guntur filed the petition and demanded an order against the State Election Commission (SEC) to conduct the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zila Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections.

According to the petitioner (Mr. Ramireddy,) N. Ramesh Kumar is allegedly not holding elections and issuing the election schedule. Mr. Ramireddy said it is unconstitutional for non conduct of the elections despite the notification being released.

Justice D.V.S. Somayajulu reviewed the matter on the 17th of March and postponed the judgement to the next hearing. Ms. Somayajulu also asked the SEC officials and Counsel for Election Commission N. Ashwani Kumar to submit a detailed report regarding the MPTC/ZPTC elections.

The last hearing regarding the same was held on the 18th of March. The AP High Court on Thursday reviewed three petitions asking to direct SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar to conduct ZPTC and MPTC elections before the 31st of March.

The next hearing in the matter is now postponed to the 20th of March.
