Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, on the 20th of February, Sunday, visited Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (A.P.)

The visit on Sunday evening was in regard to the President’s Fleet Review (PFR,) which has been organized for the 21st of February, Monday. The 12th edition of the PFR is being conducted as part of the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, being celebrated as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’

The Indian Naval Fleet comprising more than 60 ships and submarines, and 55 aircraft would be a part of the PFR. The event started on Monday morning, when President Ram Nath Kovind who was embarked on the Presidential Yacht INS Sumitra and received a 21 gun salute. Mr. Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister of India was also present at the event.

Mr. Ram Nath Kovind arrived at the naval air station INS Dega, Visakhapatnam. He would be participating in the President’s Fleet Review at the Port City of Visakhapatnam.

The President of India was received by Andhra Pradesh Governor Mr. Biswabhushan Harichandan, the State Chief Minister Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Assembly Speaker Mr. Tammineni Sitaram and Visakhapatnam Mayor Ms. Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari. Besides, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs) and the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs,) flag officer, commanding-in chief Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Mr. Biswajit Dasgupta and the Government Representative and Rajya Sabha member Mr. V. Vijaysai Reddy were also present.

According to sources, this is the second time that the Indian President is visiting Visakhapatnam. The last visit of the President of India to Visakhapatnam was on the 8th of December 2017, to participate in golden jubilee celebrations of the submarine arm of the Indian Navy.

Notably, this time, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind would be in Visakhapatnam for three days, till 22nd of February. On Tuesday, he would return to Delhi.
