The Reserve Bank of India (RBI,) announced to soon launch a Rs. 100 coin, with the image of the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR,) the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
The RBI is preparing to launch a commemorative coin, after a discussion with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government took the decision to honour the former Andhra Pradesh CM and the founder of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.) The Central Government decided to honour Mr. N.T. Rama Rao for his services rendered to the people of the united Andhra Pradesh.
In this regard, the Central Government officials met with Ms. Daggubati Purandheswari, the daughter of the Late NTR. During the meeting, the officials presented a sample coin of Rs. 100 with the image of NTR and asked for the opinion of Ms. Daggubati Purandheswari.
As per sources, the coin which would be of 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Zinc and 5% Nickel would be available in the market after two months. One could purchase the coins at any bank or the RBI, at a cost of Rs. 4,160. Buyers of this coin would also receive a 4-page book detailing the historic life journey of the legendary Telugu personality.
