On the 13th of December, the retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Mr. Lakshminarayana was granted anticipatory bail. He applied for bail in the skill development case in the Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC) The bail was applied after the recent Central Investigation Department (CID) raids at his residence in Visakhapatnam.
Recently, on the 10th of December, Friday, the CID officials raided Mr. Lakshminarayana’s residence, for alleged offenses of corruption. During his tenure as the Director of Skill Development Corporation under the regime of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) he allegedly extorted money under the Simmons Project, sanctioned by him. The initial investigation by the State Police confirmed that Rs. 242 crores had been diverted to shell companies as part of the skill development program under Mr. Lakshminarayana’s tenure. Later, the A.P., Police handed over the money extortion case to the CID.
As per the media sources, the CID investigation in the Skill Development case is underway.
