SC Orders LG Polymers To File Objection On NGT Report

The Supreme Court (SC,) on the 29th of October, reviewed the petition over the Visakhapatnam gas leak incident.

On the 7th of May, around 3:00 A.M., a chemical gas leaked from LG Polymers, a pharmaceutical industry in Visakhapatnam. The incident claimed the lives of 12 people, including two senior citizens and an 8 year old girl.

The LG Polymers filed a petition against the National Green Tribunal (NGT) suo moto case. Senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi appeared on behalf of LG Polymers. LG Polymers has objected to NGT taking the case as Sumoto.

A bench of SC judges led by Justice U.U.Lalit heard the petition.

During the hearing, Mukul Rohatgi told the court that the case is scheduled to be heard in the NGT on the 3rd of November.

In regard to this, the Supreme Court has directed LG Polymers to file objections to the committee report within ten days.

The SC also directed the NGT to adjourned the case until the further orders of the Supreme Court.

The SC adjourned the case to the 16th of November.

Stay tuned for further updates.
