SEC Directs To Accept Complaints Over Withdrawal Nomination Till 2nd March

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, directed the returning officers and election officials to accept complaints of panchayat elections.

On the 16th of February, Mr. Kumar asked officials to accept complaints regarding forcible withdrawal of nominations for municipalities, municipal corporations and Nagar Panchayats till the 2nd of March.

In a press release, the SEC stated that complaints will be accepted till the 2nd of March.

In addition, Mr. Ramesh mentioned that the SEC would take a decision on allowing such candidates to file nominations once again after examining the complaints.

The decision was taken after a few leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) registered a few complaints with the SEC.

According to those complaints, the ruling YSRCP leaders have prevented opposition candidates from filing nominations in municipal elections.

The Andhra Pradesh Municipal elections are scheduled on the 10th of March.

The major parties contesting the elections are the BJP, the YSRCP and the TDP.

Stay tuned for further updates.
