Dasari Jai Ramesh, a senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) is likely to quit the TDP and join hands with the opposition, Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)

On the 15th of February, Ramesh met Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the YSRCP, at the latter’s residence in Hyderabad.

According to sources, Ramesh expressed his desire to join the YSRCP and also discussed about his wish to contest the Lok Sabha elections, representing the Vijayawada constituency in Andhra Pradesh.

Ramesh was accompanied by Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu and V. Vijaysai Reddy, senior leaders of the TDP.

Ramesh later addressed the media and said, he met Jagan Reddy to extend his support. Speaking about the reasons to join the YSRCP and quit the TDP, Ramesh deemed corruption as one of the reasons.

Ramesh said, “Several TDP MPs and MLAs said each MLA had amassed between Rs 50 crore and Rs 100 crore two years ago. By collecting 20 to 30 percent as commission on various works (sic.)”

He also mentioned, the Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and the Members of Parliament (MPs) collected approximately Rs. 200 crores as commissions and bribes.

It is also likely, Mr. Ramesh will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as a representative of the Vijayawada constituency and a YSRCP member.

However, there is no official announcement regarding the same.
