TDP MP Ram Mohan Naidu Seeks Paternity Leave Amid Ongoing Parliament Session

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and the Member of Parliament (MP) of Srikakulam constituency Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, sought paternity leave. 

On the 30th of January, the second day of the Budget Parliament Session, Mr. Ram Mohan wrote to Parliamentary Speaker Om Birla.

In his letter, Mr. Ram asked for paternity leave for nine days from the Lok Sabha during the ongoing Budget Session.

The letter read, “I am elated to inform you that my wife and I are expecting to welcome our child into this world sometime in the next week. Therefore, I would like to request paternity leave of nine days between January 29 and February 10.”

According to sources, Mr. Naidu’s wife is in her last trimester of pregnancy.

The TDP leader also pointed out that childcare should not solely be the responsibility of the mother and said that he looks forward to caring for his wife.

Emphasising on his previous track record, Mr. Naidu said in the past he attended regularly and participated in debates and questions.

He further assured to follow the Parliament sessions remotely to update himself on the discussion and developments, and promised to return to the Lok Sabha on the 11th of February.

The MP concluded the letter saying he would look forward to Mr. Birla’s permission.
