The Telangana High Court (HC,) on the 24th of September, dismissed the plea asking for a Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) probe into Kodela Siva Prasad Rao’s death.

Kodela Siva Prasad, the former Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh (AP) Assembly, died on the 16th of September.  He allegedly committed suicide due to the criminal and corruption cases filed against him and his family.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the TDP and the family members of Kodela filed a petition and demanded a CBI probe regarding the same.

The TDP President said the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is responsible for Kodela’s death as they harassed him and filed baseless cases against him.

B. Anil Kumar, a follower of Kodela Siva Prasad, filed a petition in the Telangana High Court, demanding a CBI investigation regarding Kodela’s death.  The bench, comprising Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Abhishek Reddy, reviewed the petition and gave a notice to the Banjara Hills Police Station, the respondent, questioning about the developments in the case.  The Banjara Hills Police said the petitioner is no way related to Kodela Siva Prasad, hence his petition is null and void.  The Police further informed the High Court they filed a case and an investigation for the same is underway.

Chief Justice Chauhan asked the petitioner, “If the probe is not progressing well, the people that should be aggrieved are his family members.  They did not raise any such objection. You are a stranger to the family. How can you raise this plea?”

Stating this, Chauhan dismissed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and said he has faith in the Hyderabad Police.

The Andhra Pradesh Police and the Hyderabad Police are jointly investigating the Kodela Siva Prasad Rao suicide case.  The investigation for the same is underway.

Stay tuned for further updates.
