Several teachers in Telangana are suffering due to the inter-district transfer implementation for government teachers.
To protest against the indecisiveness of the K. Chandrashekar Rao-led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government, teachers of 13 districts, called for a ‘Right to Family” rally in the State.
It is to be noted, that Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, issued a Government Order (GO) 117, which allows the transfer of teachers, without implementation of spouse transfer.
The transfer implementation became a great concern for families of teachers, as they were left apart from them for over six months. Concerning this, the Teacher’s organization in the State called for a protest, demanding to repeal the orders, which left about 1,430 teachers without a family due to the transfer.
The teachers who were transferred and whose application for the spouse transfer is pending with the Education Department together formed a new Telangana State Spouse Transfer Forum. The President of this forum, Mr. Vivek said, “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has asked to ensure that wife and husband working as teachers be transferred to the same place.”
However, there is no sign from the department and officials concerned taking steps to implement the Chief Minister’s directives.”
The districts where spouse transfer is still not implemented are: Siddipet, Sanga Reddy, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Mancherial, Suryapet, Warangal, and Hanmakonda, Ranga Reddy, Medchal, Mahabubnagar, Karimnagar and Khammam.
Further, a majority of percentage ( 60 to 75%) of teachers waiting for spouse transfers were women, in the age group of about 30 years old.
After repeated application submissions and requests to the Telangana Government, the teachers association and TSSF decided to stage a dharna and take out a rally, on the 25th of July, Monday.
