Continuing the protest against Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Members of Parliament (MPs) walked out of the Rajya Sabha session.

On the 10th of February, Thursday, the MLAs moved a privilege motion against PM Modi to the Rajya Sabha Chairman Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu. However, when the Chairman did not accept the motion, the TRS MPs walked out of the Rajya Sabha.

It is to be noted, the TRS raised voices against the recent remark of Mr. Narendra Modi over the Telangana Statehood. The TRS MPs and Telangana Minister Mr. K.T. Rama Rao took offense to the statement which was said to be disrespectful to the Telangana citizens and leaders, who fought for an independent State.

Notably, on the 8th of February, Tuesday, Mr. Narendra Modi spoke about the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh bifurcation. He said that the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh in 2014 was not a smooth affair and blamed the Indian National Congress for the mess during the bifurcation. Mr. Narendra Modi also said both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were facing problems as a result of the processes adopted by the then Congress Government to divide.

PM Modi said, “There was no consultation over the bifurcation process. When the bifurcation bill was introduced, microphones were cut in Parliament, doors were shut and Congress MPs had even used pepper sprays.”

The notice of privilege motion submitted by TRS MP Dr. K. Keshava Rao read, “We, the undersigned members of Rajya Sabha, wish to move a privilege motion under Rule 187, against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his statement in the House on February 8, 2022, during the motion of President’s Address on the passing of the Andhra Pradesh Re-Organization Bill in the most ‘shameful manner’ in the two Houses of Parliament.” The statement further added, “Attempts to show the Parliament Houses in “a bad and contemptuous manner, denigrating and demeaning the procedures and proceedings of the House and its functioning.”

Meanwhile, on the 9th of February, Wednesday, TRS cadres and activists launched rallies, protests, and burnt effigies of PM Modi. Furthermore, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao also demanded an apology from PM Mr. Narendra Modi over his remarks.
