Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of Telangana, demanded an apology from Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.
Taking a dig at the comments of Mr. Narendra Modi during the parliament, KTR tweeted, “Utterly disgraceful of you Mr. Prime Minister repeatedly insulting the decades of spirited struggle & sacrifices of the people of #Telangana. I strongly condemn the absurd comments of PM & demand that he apologize to the people of Telangana.” He further said, “TRS party leaders and activists are going to take part in a protest against PM Narendra Modi’s remarks on Telangana in Parliament.”
Notably, on the 8th of February, Tuesday, Mr. Narendra Modi spoke about the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh bifurcation. He said that the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh in 2014 was not a smooth affair and blamed the Indian National Congress for the mess during the bifurcation. Mr. Narendra Modi also said both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were facing problems as a result of the processes adopted by the then Congress Government to divide.
PM Modi said, “There was no consultation over the bifurcation process. When the bifurcation bill was introduced, microphones were cut in Parliament, doors were shut and Congress MPs had even used pepper sprays.”
The comments not only upset the INC, but the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) who took offense and demanded an apology.
