On the 12th of April, two Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
According to sources, MLA Gottipati Ravi Kumar and MLA Sambasiva Rao tested positive for COVID-19. They are currently admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad and are undergoing treatment.
The news of the two TDP MLAs being COVID-19 positive came at a time when the Party is campaigning extensively in Tirupati. Recently, many Party workers and leaders visited Tirupati and campaigned for the by election, scheduled on the 17th of April.
In the past few days, during the alarming second wave of COVID-19 in Andhra Pradesh, many politicians were infected with the virus.
Recently, former MLA and a Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Buchepalli Shivaprasad Reddy also tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus. Another TDP leader Damacharla Satya was also diagnosed with the Novel Coronavirus.
On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh is witnessing a massive number of COVID-19 cases. The single day spike increased to 3,000 from the previous 200-300.
In the past 24 hours, the State reported 3,309 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total tally to 9,21,906 cases. Of the total, 18,666 are active cases, 8,95,949 recoveries and 7,291 fatalities.
