Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Witnesses Tough Fight Between TDP And YSRCP

In the 2021, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC,) the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) are two tough contenders.  

Tye elections for 64 municipalities started from 7:00 A.M., on the 10th of March and would continue till 5:00 P.M.

The Nara Chandrababu Naidu led TDP and the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP canvassed vigorously to retain power in the VMC. 

After 2014, this is the first Municipal elections being held in Vijayawada.  The TDP won a comfortable majority in 2014 municipal elections, hence it is a tough catch for the YSRCP.

The YSRCP is now making all efforts to win the poll battle and win the elections for the first time in VMC. 

Besides the TDP and the YSRCP, the alliance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the JanaSena Party, the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Indian National Congress (INC) and are also in fray for 64 municipal divisions.  The Telangana based All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is also contesting in two divisions of the VMC. 

In addition, 347 candidates are in fray to contest for the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation elections.  Of the total 91 are independent candidates, 64 YSRCP candidates, 57 TDP candidates, 22 BJP candidates, 41 JanaSena Party candidates, 34 candidates from the INC and remaining are from other parties. 

The results of the Andhra Municipal elections would be announced on the 14th of March.
