The Pay Revision Commission (PRC) Sadhana Samithi called for “Chalo Vijayawada” protest to put pressure on the Andhra Pradesh Government, over new PRC Government Orders (GO.)

However, the State Police fouled the plan, as they denied permission to hold the protest.  Mr. Kanti Rana Tata, the Commissioner of Police (CP) of Vijayawada, on the evening of the 2nd of February, issued a press release.

As per the released statement, no one has authorization to organise a protest in the city on the 3rd of February.  The police said, the rally and protest, with such a huge gathering at a time of the Wuhan virus pandemic, could be dangerous, responsible for the further spread of the virus.

However, the employees unions and PRC Struggle Committee, despite the rejected permission, are determined to protest, until their demands are met.

As the protestors and employees like teachers, officials and other government employees are scheduled to hold a rally “Chalo Vijayawada,” the City Police deployed officials and are prepared to prevent it and put many leaders under house arrest, since the evening of the 2nd of February.

In addition, the Vijayawada Police imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of  (CrPC) across the City.

Notably, there is a war going on between Andhra Pradesh employees and the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government, over the new PRC rules. The employees are against the recent Government Order (GO) issued over the PRC.  The PRC Sadana committee of employees, teachers, workers, and pensioners passed a unanimous resolution for the strike.  Notably, similar to the Telangana employees, the Andhra Pradesh Government employees are also demanding over 28% fitment.  However, the Chief Secretary (CS) formed a committee, refused the demand and provided only 14.7% fitment to the employees, citing the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Meanwhile the PRC Sadhana Samithi will start a protest and call for a strike on the 7th of February.
