On the 13th of April, Wednesday, the Visakhapatnam Task Force raided the Chinna Waltair region in the coastal part of the City.
According to sources, the sudden raid was based on a tip-off regarding the trafficking of drugs. After searches, police found drugs and arrested three youths. The Visakhapatnam Task Force seized 54 grams of drugs. Of the seized drugs, there was MDMA in crystalline form, which was smuggled and used. After initial interrogation, it was revealed that the accused were selling drugs in Andhra Pradesh from Bangalore. The police also confirmed that the drugs were being sold to students in the City. ‘
The Visakhapatnam police registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter. In addition, the Ch Srikanth, the Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner would brief about the raid soon.
Meanwhile, the Visakhapatnam police have taken the drugs issue seriously and launched awareness drives and campaigns to reduce the usage of the drug in the Telugu State.
