YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Announces Financial Assistance For Final Rites Of Covid-19 Victims In AP

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) on the 14th of July, announced to give financial assistance to COVID-19 victims in Andhra Pradesh.

The A.P., CM announced to provide Rs. 15,000 for the final rites of those who died of COVID-19.

The decision to give financial assistance was taken after the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) criticised the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)

In the last week, the opposition TDP took to Twitter and criticised the YSRCP of being insensitive in terms of handling bodies of the Coronavirus victims.

N. Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the TDP, took to Twitter and tweeted a video, showing bodies of coronavirus victims being dumped into a pit with the help of a JCB.

In his tweet, Chandrababu Naidu demanded an apology from the YSRCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Mr. Naidu said, “Such incidents are occurring time and again in the state and slammed the government for not giving the patients a respectful departure.”

As a response to this, the YSRCP conducted a review meeting on the 14th of July and announced Rs. 15,000 for patients dying of the deadly virus.

In addition, the State Government also issued guidelines for the State run hospitals and warned them of strict actions against them, if denied treatment to COVID-19 patients.

An official statement regarding the same was issued on the 14th of July. ” Rs. 15,000 should be given towards the last rites of the deceased and (CM) instructed the officials to issue orders immediately.” It further read, “If the hospital authority refuses to do so, he will be dealt with severely and the hospital permissions will be revoked.”

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy also instructed the officials concerned of the COVID-19 situation in the State to take up a one week special drive.

In this one week special drive, the nodal officer and COVID-19 incharge would visit several quarantine centres in the State and ensure proper treatment and food to the patients.

Besides, the YSRCP Government also ensured every centre would have a helpline number for registering complaints.

The review meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Medical and Health Alla Nani, Chief Secretary Neelam Sawhney, Director General of Police (DGP) Goutham Sawang, Medical and Health Special Chief Secretary K.S. Jawar Reddy and other officials.

Stay tuned for further updates.
