Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, distributed free kits under the ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ scheme.

On the 12th of June, Monday, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy reached Palnadu district and distributed educational kits to approximately 43 lakh students.   Getting into the details, the kits, including bilingual textbooks, notebooks, workbooks, three pairs of uniforms, one pair of shoes, two pairs of socks, belt, school bag, English-Telugu dictionary (sixth to 10th standards) and a pictorial dictionary (first to fifth standards) would be given under the Jagananna Vidya Kanuka scheme.

The kits would be given to all the students of state run schools across the Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh.   For this distribution, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) released an amount of Rs. 1,043 crores.  After announcing the distribution, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, ”School doors open from today and before the bells ring, I am happy to tell you that our government is giving away kits to all the children who should receive it.”  He further added, “For the fourth straight year, as soon as schools opened, we are implementing Jagananna Vidya Kanuka so that no boy, girl or their parents will go through any trouble for procuring things like books and uniforms.”

According to the Chief Minister, the YSRCP Government spent Rs. 648 crore in 2020-2021, Rs. 789 crores in (2021-2022,) Rs. 887 crores (2022-2023) and Rs. 1,043 crore (2023-2024.) The total amount spent on the Jagananna Vidya Kanuka scheme so far is amounting to Rs. 3,367 crores.
