On the 1st of July, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) released the guidelines of the YSR Bhima scheme in the State. 

The YSR Bhima scheme was launched by the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government to help underprivileged people in A.P.

The scheme would benefit nearly 1.41 crore White ration card holders in the State. Under the scheme, people, bread earners of poor families who met with an accident or died due to any natural disaster would be given an insurance amount and compensation from the Government. The scheme is applicable to those who are between the age of 18 to 70 years and support the family and has a white ration card.

According to the rules of the scheme, beneficiaries between the ages of 18 to 50 years would get Rs. 2 lakhs in case of natural death and Rs. 5 lakhs in case of accidental death or complete disability

Accidental death and total permanent disability (Age: 18-50 ) = Rs. 5 lakh

Accidental death and total permanent disability (Age: 51-70 ) = Rs. 3 lakh

Natural death (Age: 18-50 ) = Rs. 1 lakh

Partial or permanently disability due to an accident (Age: 18-70 ) = Rs. 1.5 lakh

The selected beneficiaries should open a bank account including the nominee. Nominees include wife, 21 year old son, unmarried daughter, widowed daughter and dependent parents, widowed daughter in law or her children.

The Beneficiary is given an Identity Card with Unique Identification Number (Unique Id) and policy no. The insurance must be paid within 15 days of the claim being intimated. The amount of the scheme would be deposited directly to the bank account of the beneficiary within 15 days of the claim being made.

On the 1st of July, the State Chief Minister launched the new guidelines of the scheme.. The YSR Bhima scheme new guidelines were launched virtually at the YSRCP camp office in Tadepalli.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Jagan said, “Everyone wants to be healthy. Those with an annual income of Rs. 5 lakh have been included in Aarogyasri.” In addition, the

During the launch event, the YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohah Reddy said, the ruling Government would bear the burden without burdening the poor families. He said even after the Central Government’s withdrawal from the scheme from April 2020, the YSRCP Government is continuing and would continue the scheme, bearing the entire cost.

Under the scheme (2021-2022) the State Government would release an estimated cost of Rs. 1,133 crores benefiting 1.32 crore poor families.

Meanwhile, in 2019-2021, a total of Rs. 1,307 crores has been covered under the insurance cover.

So far, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government has spent Rs. 765 crore under the YSR Bhima scheme. The State Government has also paid Rs. 254.72 crores in humanitarian compensation to the families of more than 12,000 victims who were not registered with the banks.
