Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, held a meeting to review the Water Resources Department projects.  

The meeting was held on the 28th of May, with the Water Resources Department officials at the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party’s (YSRCP) camp office in Tadepalli, A.P.

During the meeting, the State CM reviewed the construction progress of priority irrigation projects of the State including the Polavaram Project.

Some of the major agendas of the meeting was to discuss the rainy season, the speedy completion of construction work on the coffee Dam, Soil and concrete works of spill channel and other construction projects of irrigation.

Speaking about the construction of the Polavaram project, the State CM said, “The Polavaram project is a top priority project. We have the idea of ​​completing the project on a war footing. We are giving money in advance from the State Government. We strive to deliver the results of the project as soon as possible. Despite the difficult financial situation, we are moving forward with a positive attitude towards the project.” He further said, “It is not right that bills are pending at the Center regarding the expenditure incurred by the State Government. Authorities should focus on this immediately.” It is to be noted that bills worth Rs. 1,600 crores are pending with the Central Government at different levels.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the Water Resources Department official to focus into the matter as the expenditure should be reimbursed immediately. He even asked the official to visit Delhi and get clearance for the pending bills for the Polavaram project.

Meanwhile, as per the concerned officials, the department would need at least Rs. 1,400 crores over the next three months to complete the construction work.

Besides this, the A.P., CM also reviewed projects like direct barrage on genealogy, construction of Nellore Barrage, Veligonda project, the work of Pedigree Stage 2 and Phase 2 and the work of connecting the Vansadhara-Nagavali rivers as soon as possible.

The meeting was attended by the State Water Resources Minister Anil Kumar Yadav and other senior officials of the YSRCP Government.
