With the launch of the Matsyakara Bharosa scheme, the YSRCP Government fulfilled one more promise made in its 2019 Party manifesto.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, launched the scheme in Mummidivaram, Andhra Pradesh, on the occasion of World Fisheries Day.

As per the guidelines of the scheme, the family of every fisherman across Andhra Pradesh would get Rs. 10,000 during the ‘no fishing’ season.

The subsidy amount on diesel would increase from Rs. 6.03 to Rs. 9.  The State Government dedicated 81 petrol filling stations for this purpose.

Besides, financial aid would now be provided to fishermen using hunting rafts as well, along with those using mechanized and motorized boats.

The YSRCP Government also increased the ex gratia given to the families of fishermen from Rs. 5 lakhs to Rs. 10 lakhs.

Fishermen between the ages of 18 and 60 are eligible for the Matsyakara Bharosa scheme.
