Merugu Nagarjuna, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) criticised Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)
Mr. Nagarjuna, who is President of the Schedule Caste (SC) cell of YSRCP said, everybody knows that Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu is shedding crocodile tears for Dalits,
Mr. Nagarjuna said Chief Minister Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy has proved to be a favourite of the lot of people and did good to people of all class.
He further asked, “Has Naidu ever been recognised as a saviour of Dalits?”
Merugu Nagarjuna said, Chandrababu Naidu was a barrier between Dalits and the BCs.
Whether it be East Godavari or Prakasam districts, it was the YSRCP which did justice to Dalits by arresting the accused in any crimin. cases like rape or sexual harassment.
Mr. Merugu addressed the media and said, “Did Naidu ever think of doing justice to Dalits, is my question.” He further praised Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and said, Mr. Reddy treats everybody equal and that is the reason for immediate justice, he said and asked if Naidu has ever provided 60% reservations to backward classes in his Cabinet or provided a Cabinet post to a Dalit woman as a home minister.
The criticism came after Chandrababu Naidu, on the 23rd of July, announced to fund for the education of the 16 year old rape victim.
Recently, on the 16th of July, a group of men kidnapped a 16 year old Dalit girl and raped her for days.
Mr. Naidu announced a financial assistance of Rs. 2 lakhs to the victimised minor Dalit girl.
