YSRCP To Decide Upon Mayor And Deputy Mayor Candidate Ahead Of Mayoral Elections

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) is expected to finalise the mayoral candidate today, the 17th of March

The name would be finalised for the Guntur Municipal Corporation, for which the mayoral election is scheduled on the 18th of March.

After the recent victory of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) in the Municipal elections, 11 of the 12 corporations would have mayors from the YSRCP.

As of now, YSRCP corporators Kavati Manohar Naidu and Padarthi Ramesh Gandhi are two names proposed for the mayor’s post. In addition, the Party is also discussing a major candidate for the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC.)

However, an official announcement of the Guntur Municipal mayor would be announced post elections on the 18th of March.

In a different strategy, the Chief Minister of A.P., is likely to give 2.5 years duration to two different mayors.

Besides mayoral election, during the elections, the corporators would also elect deputy mayors.

The Andhra Pradesh Municipal elections were held on the 10th of March and the results were announced on the 14th of March.

As per the results, the YSRCP won a majority of seats against the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)
